The
supermarket "King
Soopers" opened in early 2001 at this location. In the second
half of 2001 we started using this store on a permanent base
for our grocery shopping.
Service: In most cases the service has
been very good. Occasionally it takes a long time for staff to
respond to your needs. This happened in different departments
of the store to us. Overall these incidents are not representing
the majority of our visits and they have not made us consider
other options. Sometimes the waiting period at the cash registers
is a little long and staff is a little slow to respond. We buy
Deli meat quite often and found the staff in that department
to be extremely friendly and helpful.
The Store: We always found the
store to be clean. The lighting is sufficient and bright enough
to make a friendly impression. We have seen other stores where
it was too dark or the light situation has just not been satisfying.
The store offers branches of Starbucks Coffee and U.S. Bank
which makes life very convenient. We use both services a lot.
We actually use U.S. Bank for our personal and business checking
accounts as well as we have our mortgage with them. Starbucks
offers the 8th coffee free of charge when making a coffee purchase
with your King Soopers Card. If you buy dairy products - watch the expiration date
of items. We have seen more than one item expired and in some
cases even the expired item was still on shelf 10 days after
the expiration date. Carefully looking you can avoid these
issues.
Pricing: Prices are not on the
cheap site. For some items we had to switch to Wal-Mart or
Costco as pricing at King Soopers was just ridiculous high. We live in an expensive town - I expect higher prices.
But price differences of almost 80% to 90% that just is
not right. If you have endless funds available it might not bother
you but for a family with just an average income this can make
quite an impact. We always put into consideration that driving
to Wal-Mart is a little more and you also lose some time. But
if you work with a shopping list of items like we do, it is
easy to save $30-$40 per trip easily. We rather go out for
dinner for that kind of money.
Overall
we like shopping at this King Soopers location. It's not
perfect but very convenient.
